Why does my puppy pull her pee pad and run with it? What to do?

She is a baby. You can’t expect her to be housebroken or know proper behavior at this age. I recommend a puppy class so she gets socialized with other dogs and to burn off excess energy. Taking her for lots of walks and tossing toys for her to play with outside will tire her out and decrease the biting behavior. She’s just playing now, and this behavior will improve as she grows up. Personally in order to house break a dog I keep them in a crate at all times that I’m not able to supervise them so they do not have an opportunity to poop in the house. I am sorry to hear about your frustation with Ozzy! Unfortunately this is not an unusual behavior. Ozzy is certainly not acting out or trying to make you frustrated, he is being a normal puppy. Puppies are curious/playful animals that often like to tear things up. If he is being left alone for extended periods of time, then this is why he is tearing his puppy pad up. He is likely bored and lonely. You could consider having a neighbor or pet sitter come over during the middle of the day to let him out while he is young. Also provide him with ample toys to play with as an alternative to tearing up his pads- food puzzles are great to keep puppies engaged, as are kongs- you can put wet food into a kong and put it into the freezer to provide longer entertainment.

You may want to look into getting toys that are a little more rugged so that he does not chew through them as quickly. I would keep an eye on Prince in case he is ingesting some of the cloth or stuffing, as this can cause an obstruction.

Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is not an uncommom issue. I recommend that you try the training pad spray that you put on the pad. This would help your pup identify the right place to do her business. You can get this at your local pet store. Given that she learned how to let you guys know when she wants to go outside, she is for sure very smart so I'm sure she will learn this as well. Try to keep the blankets off the flour at least for now while she learns. Remember to praise and reward her when you notice the desired behavior. Good luck!

2 months is extremely young, and Harley likely doesn't know what you expect from her. As for not sniffing, that is pretty normal for this age. Training to go on a puppy potty pad uses the same techniques as regular potty training, so it is best to work on a regular potty schedule like you would if you were taking her outside. Crate training can also help, however a 2 month old puppy likely can't hold it more than 1-2 hours at most. If you want her to go potty outside only, I would remove the potty pads as this is likely just confusing her. Giving her the option of both may confuse her as to where the appropriate place to go potty is. Instead, taking her out every 1-2 hours, and establishing a routine of going out after eating, drinking, playing, waking up, etc, can help get her used to the fact that outside = go potty time, along with your treats and rewards. If she has an accident inside, moving her outside to let her finish is best, as well as using an enzymatic cleaner to remove any residue and discourage going potty there again.
