My 2-week old puppy has a pot belly and twitches. Is this normal?

I would take Card into the vet. The pot belly could mean she has intestinal worms, and the vet can prescribe a deworming treatment for her. As for the squeaking sounds when breathing, that could potentially be a sign of a respiratory infection, so have the vet check that out as well. Best of luck.

Having a vomit or two after deworming can be normal, however if it continues or if Kain is acting weak or tired then I would get him to a vet right away. Puppies often twitch in their sleep, and they are dreaming. You can try waking him up during this twitching, if it stops right away it was just dreaming, if it continues it is a seizure or twitching that needs to be seen by a vet right away. Hi, Puppies can have what we call a "pot belly". In many puppies the pot belly appearance noticeable after a meal but it will decrease in size after a couple of hours. In cases where the pot belly persist in puppies and does not decrease in size we consider the most common cause is heavy worm infestation which will require to have your puppy to have a series of de-worming treatment at 2 weeks intervals at least twice (with heavy infestation I will recommend more than twice). Other cause of distended abdomen is fluid built up (ascites) which warrant a veterinary investigation. I would suggest to start immediately with treatment using a de-wormer recommended by your vet. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Puppies should be dewormed every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age to about 10 weeks of age. She can still have worms. But in general puppies of Bella's age tend to have fat little distended bellies, just like human babies, which is very normal. They tend to look even fuller after eating. It is time to start her vaccinations so the Vet can also feel her belly to be sure everything is fine. I wish Bella the best!

It is likely normal digestion. However, if he has not been dewormed yet, then I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian so they can begin vaccinations and deworming. No need to worry! Hiccups are common in puppies. The twitching and making noises is normal too. Puppies and dogs dream, so these movements and sounds can be in response to dreams they are having. I have a dog who barks in her sleep sometimes, and her legs move. I like to think she is chasing something :-)
