My puppy pooped out a seed. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 5 days old | 5 lbs

Found in my dogs stool, Do you know what it would be? she hasn’t ate anything different and I’m worried. She’s a lab and german shepherd mix and she’s only 12 weeks

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. That appears to be a seed of sorts. I’m not sure what kind, but the outer shell appears intact. If Ella is otherwise acting normally and not having any other clinical signs (diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite), then I would recommend monitoring her at home. If she has any of these signs, then she may need to be evaluated by a veterinarian. I hope this is helpful!

I cannot imagine that a whole kibble went through her gastrointestinal tract without being digested. Please, keep an eye on her stools and if you see more of potentially undigested food, Chloe may need a blood test to check her pancreas function.

My dog's poop has yellow seed-like things. What could it be?

The seed-like substances in Prince's stool could be due to a number of possibilities, including worm segments, pollen granules, sand, actual seeds, silica granules, among many other possibilities. Since this is an abnormal finding, I recommend taking a stool sample to Prince's vet so that a fecal flotation test can be run to determine if parasites are present, or if this is just a benign incidental finding. Why is my dog's dark poop mixed with yellow sesame seed-like bits?

While the stool looks dark it does not look black and I think the color is a variation of normal. I think the other things look like millet bird seed or some other kind of plant material - it doesn’t look like any kind of parasite. I wouldn’t be concerned unless Aura develops diarrhea or is having trouble defecating.

Why does my dog have orange seed-like specks and diarrhea in stool?

It looks like some kind of seed she may be eating. I would observe her carefully when she is outside and make sure she isn't unsupervised. I would get her seen by your vet and take them a sample of this so they can hopefully identify what it is. If the diarrhea accompanies this in her stool I also suspect the two are related.

Unusual yellow seeds in dog poop: Are they parasites or food?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chaka. The objects look more like seeds to me than parasites. Could he have gotten into squash or something similar in the trash? My puppy pooped mulch with blood and mucus. ER vet or monitor?

The concern I have is that he may have more mulch still in his system given that one piece has come out. I'd monitor him for now. If you still see blood in his poop or other signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, a loss of appetite, or lethargy, take him into an ER vet right away. I hope this helps!
