Unusual yellow seeds in dog poop: Are they parasites or food?

The seed-like substances in Prince's stool could be due to a number of possibilities, including worm segments, pollen granules, sand, actual seeds, silica granules, among many other possibilities. Since this is an abnormal finding, I recommend taking a stool sample to Prince's vet so that a fecal flotation test can be run to determine if parasites are present, or if this is just a benign incidental finding. The good news is that these yellow dots don't look like any intestinal parasite that's visible with the naked eye. My best guess is that your dog recently ate something relatively fibrous, like plant material, rice, or another vegetable that passed through the stool reasonably unchanged. As long as your dog isn't experiencing any changes in their appetite or energy level, or any vomiting, then I don't see any cause for concern. If this continues, you can always ask your vet to submit a stool sample to a reference lab for further evaluation.

It looks like Starky got into either some food that was yellow and bean-like, or that he ate something that is fibrous, as it almost looks like wool. Without being able to feel it to see how it breaks apart it is hard to tell from the picture. You could bring the feces to the vet to have them look at it, however if Starky is doing well, I would just monitor his feces for now, and make sure he isn't vomiting. Best of luck with Starky!

It looks like some kind of seed she may be eating. I would observe her carefully when she is outside and make sure she isn't unsupervised. I would get her seen by your vet and take them a sample of this so they can hopefully identify what it is. If the diarrhea accompanies this in her stool I also suspect the two are related.

Its hard to say what that is. Its possible that Rocco ate something (a pebble, small piece of plastic toy) and its passed out in his stool. Tape worms will sometimes look similar to what you described. I would recommend to have his stool tested for worms. If you see these objects again, put them and a sample of the stool in a baggie and have the veterinarian look at them. I'm glad Rocco is otherwise doing well. I hope this answer helps.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Rocky. You will need to have a fecal sample tested by his veterinarian to know for sure. The pieces look too large to be parasite fragments. Could he have eaten any plant material on the yard with a similar appearance or gotten into human food? Has he chewed any toys made out of that material. If not, his veterinarian will test the stool to ensure that he does not have an infection. I hope this information helps!

While the stool looks dark it does not look black and I think the color is a variation of normal. I think the other things look like millet bird seed or some other kind of plant material - it doesn’t look like any kind of parasite. I wouldn’t be concerned unless Aura develops diarrhea or is having trouble defecating.
