My puppy pees inside a lot. Is it a medical problem or training?

Have Bourbon examined by your vet to rule out medical causes such as UTI or congenital defects affecting his urinary tract. At his age, expect to Bourbon to still have "accidents". Reinforce crate training or choose one method of training and stick with it. If you choose the crate, it should only be big enough for Bourbon to stand, turn around and lay down. He can be crated for a maximum of 3 hours (age in months + 1 hour) before needing to go out. This includes overnights. Put him on a consistent schedule for going outside. He goes outside FIRST thing in the morning. Pick a spot outside and wait. No walks until he goes. Praise and reward him when he goes. Place him back in the crate or on a leash attached to your hip so you can watch for his cues to go. This may be circling, whining or sniffing around. Do not leave Bourbon unsupervised until he is house trained. He will need to go about 30 minutes after eating or playing. Take up the water 2 hours before bedtime and take her out right before bedtime. Be patient. Be consistent.

Hello. Jack Jack should definitely not be urinating every 30 minutes. This could be a physical problem, or he has some kind of psychological issue, especially if he is drinking more than a normal amount of water. I think it would be a good idea to see if his kidneys are OK & that he does not have any other issues with holding his urine. At the very least, he should be able to hold his urine a minimum of 4-6 hours at this age. Hopefully, he will be fine & he will outgrow this behavior, but I would recommend making sure there is not a medical reason for such frequent outings. Hi, puppies can get urinary tract infections. I would watch her for urinating more frequently and in small amounts. At 7 months, she should be mostly house trained so this is not likely a behavior issue but it is still possible. I would take her to the vet for an exam if it happens a third time. They can put her on some antibiotics for this and she should be fine. Good luck!

I'm sorry you're dealing with this frustrating issue. If needing an early morning bathroom break is a change, I'd recommend starting with a vet visit to make sure she doesn't have a UTI, bladder stone, skin infection, or even organ function problem etc. Those issues all can all increasing the amount of water she's drinking, making her need to go out in the middle of the night. If there is no medical issue, then it's a house training problem, which is difficult at her age. Usually using a crate to re-house train as if she were a puppy is the most effective course of treatment to deal with this.

I would make sure that Simba does not have a medical issue like a urinary tract infection, bladder stones or cystitis. I recommend taking him to your vet for a urine test. If the urine sample is normal than it is likely he has a behavioral issue. I would recommend picking up the water before bedtime to help prevent urination overnight. Also you could start to crate train him too.

AT Dante's age, you shoudl start decreasing the amount of puppy milk and increasing the amount of food. He should be fully weaned by 8 weeks of age so milk is no longer needed. I do recommend to have his urine checked for any infection. Puppies do urinate frequently but they typically just go in one large pee puddle. Not several smaller puddles.
