Hi and thank you for your question on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

I am sorry to hear Awesome has Parvovirus. Bloody diarrhea does happen with parvovirus infections as the virus destroys the healthy protective lining of the intestines and that causes blood to come inside the intestinal track. Protein loss and anemia can occur because of this which can cause a domino effect of problems with dogs battling Parvovirus.

It is difficult to predict what the prognosis will be with Awesome, sight unseen. However, I can tell you prognosis does depend on whether the infection was diagnosed early or not, how old the dog was at the time of diagnosis, and level of treatment. Older puppies that have been diagnosed early and undergoing aggressive treatment have a much better prognosis.

I hope this has helped and I wish Awesome a speedy recovery!
