My 4-week-old puppy won't eat. Should I socialize before vaccinations?

Oh my! Coco is adorable! Thank you for including pictures. The good news is that a puppy that is about 4 weeks of age, should be able to eat softened food and not need to be bottle fed. If she is truly only four weeks old then she probably got separated from her mom a little early. You may have to try some soft canned food or even a little dog milk replacement in order to encourage her to eat. It is very normal for these guys to sleep a lot and play a little and as they get older they will start playing more and more. If it any point she is not eating at all or playing then I would have her checked out by your bed. When she become six weeks old she will need her first set of shots and to be dewormed by your vet as well. I hope this helps!

Early vaccination does not obtain any advantage, on the contrary. his immune system at his age is not ready to receive vaccination yet, they will have very little effect and will leave him vulnerable to catch infections. i would not recommend vaccinating him before the age of 8 weeks.

Ideally, they should stay with the mother and litter until at least 8 weeks of age. This can prevent behavioral issues as they get older. They can start weaning to solid foods beginning at about 4 weeks of age. If they can stay with the mother and litter while weaning, this would be best for them in the long run.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! 5 weeks is a bit young to leave her mother but if she is fully weaned it should be ok. We usually do not start vaccines until they are 7 weeks of age. Some breeders will give them a parvo vaccine at under 7 weeks. You should be fine until she gets her first vaccine but people with sick dogs or unvaccinated dogs shouldn't handle her and she needs to be kept away from all dogs. I hope this helps and good luck!

At three tyo four weeks of age your puppy is way too young for vaccinations. He also needs to be with his mommy at that age and still drink milk, Please put him back with his mother or at least raise him properly with puppy milk.
