My 39-day-old puppy won't eat and has indigestion. What to do?

My dog a 39 day old labrador puppy is not eating for the past two days and has indigestion so suggest me a solution

Puppies do not normally have issues with indigestion or stomach acid issues. Much more common are bacterial infections, viral infections or parasites. The fact that your puppy has not eaten in 2 days means that it feels poorly. Puppies are this age are fragile and require earlier veterinary intervention. I recommend to have your puppy examined by a veterinarian today since it has not eaten in 2 days so that means low blood sugar and dehydration become more likely. You may try offering a bland diet but it may not help. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. I hope your puppy starts feeling better quickly. Please feel free to post any additional questions.

An upset stomach is a common problem with puppies and is usually self-limiting (will go away on its own). It may not be serious right now, but it's always possible that it could be the start of something serious. If Jack has any of the following, then he should see a vet: 1) Blood in diarrhea 2) Very watery diarrhea 3) Starts acting very depressed 4) Stops eating or drinking for longer than 24 hours. 5) Diarrhea lasts longer than three days. You can try feeding bland food (boneless chicken and rice is good). Feed small portions (1/4 cup or less) three times a day. Ensure fresh, clean water is always available. Worried: My new puppy isn't eating. Could it be distemper again?

This could be distemper but could also just be a little upset tummy or parasites. There are a lot of different things that can cause loss of appetite. I would try to offer him some plain boiled boneless skinless chicken and white rice to see if this entices him to eat and settles his tummy. If he is still not eating then I would have your vet take a look at him. These little puppies can get dehydrated really quick so I don’t recommend waiting to see a vet for too long. My puppy threw up and won't eat for 36 hours. What should I do?

Poor girl. She may have an internal illness that is making her not want to eat. Since it has been more than 24 hrs I would encourage you to take her to your vet to get checked out. She may have an infection, organ malfunction, or a severe stomach upset from something she ate. She will likely need medications through your vet to help her get back on her feet. In the meantime you can try offering her small amounts of Pedialyte non-flavored (diluted 50:50 with water) and small amounts of a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. Why is my 4-week-old Pomeranian puppy throwing up and not eating?

Poor Blue! Small breed young puppies are delicate and they are extremely prone to low blood sugar if they don’t eat well. This condition can be fatal. There are many causes for vomiting including worms, change in diet, bacteria over growth and Parvo. I recommend to have Blue seen today by his veterinarian. It’s very important to get these little puppies eating and not vomiting to avoid low blood sugar. The doctor will need to run some tests to determine the cause. Offer him boiled white meat chicken and boiled white rice. This is a bland diet which can help to settle his stomach. Smaller, more frequent meals are better than two large ones. Not eating for 3 days is serious for a puppy. They are not able to regulate blood sugar like an adult and they don't have the same reserves either. What should I do if my 5-week-old puppy won't eat and is bloated?

I recommend you have him rechecked by a vet as soon as possible - although you do not mention his age or breed a 5ml feed of liquids should not cause bloating in a 5week old pup and it is vital he receive nutrition immediately in order to grow and develop. Contact the bluecross centre also to see if they have had any similar issues with his siblings
