Why is my puppy not eating and pooping green after deworming?

This sounds serious and I would recommend trying to see another veterinarian if possible. Once neonatal puppies start to decline for whatever reason things can progress rapidly, and often there is not much to do other than offer aggressive supportive care. I would be a little surprised if the umbilical cord incident was related, unless she has an infection that has led to sepsis. This puppy might need to be tube fed, and her blood sugar could be low.

Poor Bruno! It’s possible it’s related to the deworming but it’s also possible there’s another cause such as a viral infection, dietary indiscretion, parasites or bacteria over growth. Usually a reaction to an oral medication will happen within 24 hours. Since Bruno is young and small, I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian today if possible. Small breed puppies are susceptible to low blood sugar and this will cause seizures and can be fatal if not treated. If puppies don’t eat, they run the risk of developing low blood sugar. He is not feeling well and that’s why he’s not eating. It’s always best to be safe with these little ones. Offer him cooked chicken breast and plain boiled white rice. Canned puppy food would also be a good option. If he shows any signs of significant lethargy, trouble walking or seizures, smear something sugary like Karo syrup on his gums and get to the vet’s office immediately. Unfortunately, many products now have xylitol in them to act as a sweetener and this is toxic to dogs so you want to read your labels. I hope he starts feeling better quickly! Lelia not eating is a sign that she feels very bad and it's possible that it is related to a reaction from that dewormer although other causes are possible. The big concern is that she is very young and not eating. Puppies do not have the physical reserves of an adult dog. If she has not been eating since Monday then you need to take her in for an exam and medications to soothe her stomach. You don't want her to end up with low blood sugar and need a visit to the emergency clinic! If she will not eat her own puppy food, try warmed white meat chicken and plain white rice. This is not balanced but it will be fine for a few days. If she will not eat that, she is pretty sick. With young puppies, it's best to be cautious as they are fragile. Have her checked out today if possible.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sakari! If Sakari is not eating and vomiting when drinking she needs to see a Veterinarian. She is so small at just 4 lbs that she is at risk for dehydration and low blood sugar. When dogs defecate blood that indicates colon inflammation and also indicates that severe dehydration is even a higher risk. Sakari may have such a high worm burden that all the worms dying are causing stomach and intestinal inflammation or they are causing an obstruction. She also could have something else going on, especially if she isn't vaccinated, like parvo virus or another viral or bacterial infection. The best thing for Sakari is to see a Vet today for supportive care. I wish you the best!

So sorry to hear that Bubu is not feeling well! Puppies are very prone to intestinal parasites, and depending on which vaccines they have received, viral infections such as parvovirus. Bubu may have also eaten something he should not have which has blocked his intestinal tract or was toxic. He should be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible as he is likely to become dehydrated very quickly as he loses fluids from vomiting and having diarrhea and not eating/drinking. His veterinarian will likely need to run some tests including blood work, a fecal exam, and take x-rays to determine the cause and prescribe medication to treat the condition. It sounds like Stella has intestinal worms which are common in puppies. Puppies with intestinal worms can eat their poop as well, but even dogs without intestinal worms eat their poop. They just like the taste. I am very concerning that she isn't eating anything, and due to that, I would take her into a vet immediately. It's quite serious when such a young puppy won't eat. I am not sure the type of dewormer or the vaccines that you used but vomiting often, lethargy, and not eating are not typical 2-4 days after vaccination and deworming. It is very concerning that she is having these signs and she could have an infection or possibly have a parasite that was not susceptible to the dewormer that you used. She really should be seen by a vet to determine the cause and treat. She may need an anti-vomiting injection, antibiotic, antacid, gastrointestinal protectant, dewormer, and/or other medications to treat. You could try to find a clinic that would work out a payment plan or apply for care credit and have her seen. Hope she feels better soon!
