Puppy has bloody poop, worms, won't eat after deworming. What to do?

The most likely diseases are as follows: 1. Parvo, a virus that primarily attacks the immune system and intestines of dogs and is very lethal if left without supportive care. 2. Intestinal parasites which can cause intestinal blockage and even anemia (depletion of red blood cells). 3. Other viruses with varying severities. This is not an exhaustive list, just the most common things for a puppy. They will all lead to dehydration and other secondary issues which can all be severe enough to cause death. Whatever the underlying disease, he looks very ill and needs attention from a veterinarian immediately. I would recommend taking him to your nearest emergency veterinary hospital as soon as possible. A small amount of blood can be expected not as a result of the deworming per se but more as an effect of the worms that are likely there. If if it just a small amount of possibly blood in the stools, I would continue to monitor him for now. If no improvement is noted within a few days, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am concerned Mooshi may have a serious viral infection as well as an abundant of worms. Since he is so small and easily dehydrated I would strongly encourage to take him to your vet for an exam. Your vet can assess his hydration, do a fecal to figure out the type of worms and dewormer he needs and whether he needs any additional medicine to combat the vomiting, lethargy and diarrhea. It is not normal that Pig has a steady blood flow from her behind, and it could be the heavy burden of worms, but it could be something more serious such as parvovirus. I would consider this a medical emergency, and I strongly urge you to take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

Poor pups. While a heavy parasite load can cause severe GI upset, and anemia which can cause a pup to become extremely lethargic, have bloody diarrhea, etc, I would also want to rule out underlying illnesses as a possibility. It would be best to bring them to a vet ASAP especially if they are lethargic or unable to keep any food or water down as puppies can quickly become very dehydrated. They may also need supportive care such as an IV or injected medications if they are very ill from the parasites or other causes. You can try continuing to offer water, or rubbing a little honey on their gums for energy until you can get to the vet, however due to the severity of symptoms it would be best to seek emergency care.

This blood in his diarrhea could be due to intestinal worms, eating something rotten, a foreign body, parvo if he isn't vaccinated, or a severe stomach illness. He should definitely see a vet for this. As long as he is otherwise ok, it can wait until the morning. Hi,t hanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Dewowmers have the potential to cause an upset stomach such as vomit, diarrhea and decreased appetite. Though I am worried something else is going on since you lost a puppy recently. I worry most about parvo virus in puppies this age, especially if they are yet to be vaccinated. I would have this puppy seen today by your Vet and tested for parvo virus as it is VERY contagious and if it is the cause it will likely affect the entire litter. If it isn't parvo the Vet can at least get this puppy feeling better and prevent dehydration. Good luck!
