New puppy, no shot history. Should I vaccinate him again to be safe?

I would recommend getting his vaccinations redone if there is no proof. It will not harm him and this will ensure he is fully protected. It is just too risky to assume he is protected with no proof. He will need the DHLPP and Bordetella. He will then need 1 booster done in 3 weeks and that will fully protect him for a year. I hope that your newly adopted pet Tanner does well moving forward. It would be safer to vaccinate again than to risk bot vaccinating, especially when he is so young as it is unlikely any course would be complete at this stage. The original vet should be able to confirm what if any vaccinate had been given if you can obtain contact details. As a general rule, vets would normally issue a written record when vaccinating pups so the new owner can follow on with recommended course, no book often indicates lack of complete vaccine schedule!

That's so sad that someone dumped Alphonse, but how lovely of you to take him into your home! Given that the person dumped him, I would suspect it's not very likely that he has any vaccines. It seems like to me that someone who would dump a puppy wouldn't care about their health and wellbeing. I would definitely take him into the vet to get his vaccines done. There isn't a danger of repeating them in a short period of time; in fact, to get a dog his age fully vaccinated, he needs at least two series of the vaccines given four weeks apart. Since you live on a farm, I would speak to your vet about getting him the leptospirosis vaccines as well as rabies and DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza). If possible, get Willow's history from the person, shop or shelter you acquired her from. If she has no history, it is likely she has not had any vaccines. Have her examined by your veterinarian to confirm good health and to discuss an appropriate vaccine protocol, deworming and heartworm/parasite prevention.

I would try to get as much information from the previous owner as possible. If they don’t have any records maybe they remember the name of the veterinarian they took him to and you can call for that information? If you can not get any vaccination documents then I would be much more inclined to vaccinate him again rather than risk no vaccinations. Yes you can bring him to a VetCo clinic for vaccinations, a check up and microchipping if you like. The vet should have a health record of the dog.
