Is mucus in my 12-week-old puppy's poop normal if she's fine?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 28 days old | 11 lbs

My 12 week old puppy has been having off and on mucus in the poop. Is at the very end of the poo and it is like coated in it. She has no diarrhea and is her normal self running around playing. She eats cooked chicken mince with rice and then her royal canin dry food. Just want to know if this is normal?

This can be normal, and it can be common to see a bit of mucous at the end of the poop. I'd only be concerned if there is blood as well in Luna's poop, she's having diarrhea, and/or vomiting. I hope this helps!

Poor mucus can be normal! Mucus is made by the intestines to keep the lining of the colon lubricated and moist and is perfectly healthy. As long as there are no other issues with Ellie, this is likely not a worry. I think I see some normal poop under the mucus in the picture. For now, I'd just keep an eye on her. I hope this helps!
