Why is my 5-month-old puppy itching the same spot for a week?

If mites/mange have been ruled out by Solo's veterinarian, other causes may be related to a an allergy such as a food allergy or environmental allergy. A fungal infection could also be another potential possibility. Next steps would be to perform a fungal culture to rule out a fungal infection and be sure Solo is on a good quality flea preventative year round to help rule out a flea allergy. This presentation could be due to a trauma or localised spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria and commonly called hot spot). A check up, appropriate disinfection and antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid licking. Poor Buddy! It sounds like this area is itchy for him. If he isn't up to date on his [flea treatment](https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-do-i-pick-the-right-flea-and-tick-product-for-my-pet/), he will need a spot on treatment, such as Advantix, or a prescription oral flea preventive, such as Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica, or Credelio. You will need to disinfect the environment as well. If he is up to date on his flea treatment, I recommend taking him into your vet for an exam. Your vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the itching is found, your vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment. I recommend taking him into the vet today or tomorrow. It is possibele he has a contact irritation from soemthing he is sleeping on, or possibly the wipes or he may have mites (inside the skin, not visible), a bacterial or fungal infection. I recommend a full vet check as soon as possible in order to identify and treat the source of his discomfort

I'm not 100% sure what this spot is from just by looking at a photo. It could be just an injury but it could also be ringworm or skin mites (mange) or the start of a hot spot. I suggest you try this hot spot spray gel, 3-4 times per day. Poor Laboo! This scratching can be caused by fleas, mites, ringworm, or allergies. If he isn't up to date on his flea treatment, I can give you one for him. First, I would give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. If he is up to date on his flea treatment, I recommend taking him into the vet for an exam today or tomorrow. Lalo could suffering from a food allergy or a mite infection or a fungal/bacterial infection. Please take him to a veterinarian for an exam and some testing. Food allergies can be treated with a diet change, avoiding the offending allergen, and fungal, bacterial and/or mite infections can be treated with a fungixidal, antibiotic or acaricidal medication respectively. Your vet may also prescribe a medicated shampoo.
