My puppy got hit by a car, is limping and resting. What's next?

Oh no - poor pooch! Even if he does not seem painful limping is a sign of pain in the leg. He may have a simple bruise or sprain, but broken bones are also very common after being hit by a car. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as possible. It sounds like this may have happened a little while ago since the rash on his stomach has healed, but if it was recent you should see a veterinarian as soon as possible since internal injuries are sometimes not obvious right away.

It's possible that he just sprained or jammed something. I'd let him rest for a bit but if he continues to be painful or won't use it then get him seen. He may have a fracture or dislocation if he hit hard enough. If he's crate trained out him to rest in there for a bit to see if he settles. Do not give otc medicines for pain!

Poor Glizzy! I would take Glizzy into a vet immediately. There could be internal injuries from getting hit by a car, and that can only be determine with a physical exam and x-rays. This is a medical emergency, and I would take Glizzy into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see him now.

If he is not walking well and his breathing is abnormal, I highly recommend you consider having him reevaluated by a veterinarian since he has not improved. They may take chest x rays to check on why he is breathing loudly such as a pulmonary contusion for example. Oh dear! If your puppy is spitting up blood, not moving her back legs, panting, and her eyes look glazed, she is very badly injured - she needs to see an emergency vet immediately. These are all signs of serious internal injuries. I would recommend putting her in the car immediately and taking her to your nearest ER for an exam and treatment to see what can be done for her.
