What's the best food for a 1-month-old puppy? Can they eat eggs?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 3 lbs

Our vet has advised us to feed our 1 month old pup boiled egg with yolk and cerelac but we are having second thoughts over it, what do you think? Is it ok to feed him egg and if not what are the alternates?

No, I don't recommend that at all. A one month of age, he is old enough to be weaned onto puppy food. To help Rudy wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality puppy formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with puppy formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry puppy food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until he is eating the dry puppy food only.

At one month of age, Bella can start being weaned onto a puppy food. To help her wean and to get used to dry food, I would soak a high quality puppy formulated dry food in warm water until soft. Then mix that with puppy formula such as KMR to make a mush the consistency of oatmeal. Over the next two weeks, gradually increase the amount of dry puppy food and decrease the amount of water and KMR you use until she is eating the dry puppy food only. Brands of puppy food I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams.

A one month old puppy should be able to eat puppy food, so I would find a dry food that is formulated for puppies/growth. Follow the feeding instructions on the bag. This is true. Puppies this old cannot ingest milk so it is likely to just go straight through them and cause diarrhea. Once they are going on 9 weeks old, then you can slowly transition them to a regular puppy formula food (dry or wet). What's the best dry food for my 1-month-old GSD puppy? Grain-free?

At a month of age, Malia is just starting to eat solid foods and shouldn't be away from her mother yet (unless orphaned). I would find a wet food or puppy starter food that can be mixed in with kibble, or mix in Malia's puppy formula with it to make a slurry that is easy to eat. Any large breed puppy diet should be fine to give as long as it is complete and balanced. Grain-free isn't really necessary unless there is an allergy to the food, but allergies are not common in a one month old puppy.

I can't say how old Rudy is without seeing him in person, or at least a picture of him. That is not an appropriate diet at all for a dog. If he's a puppy, he needs a puppy formulated food. If he's an adult, he needs an adult dog food. Please stop feeding him this currently diet, it's so bad for him nutritionally.

Why is my 1-month-old puppy only drinking formula and not eating?

At 4 weeks of age it is normal for a puppy to only be drinking milk. Ideally your puppy should still be nursing from his mother at this age. If he is already away from his mother then you will need to continue feeding him puppy milk replacer until about 6 weeks of age. You can try to leave some moistened kibble with him to get him interested in it but at this age he should be still getting most of his nutrition from milk. I hope this helps.
