My puppy fell and hit her head. Is sleeping a lot normal after a fall?

Things to be concern about are crying in pain, excessive tiredness, not wanting to eat, etc. I wish you the best!

If she is remaining sleepy, has poor balance or vomiting I would be concerned about a possible head injury and recommend she be assessed by a vet as soon as possible. Otherwise continue to monitor for food and fluid intake and ensure no rough play for the next 48 hours

If she seems to be sleepy but you are able to wake her up, and if she seems to be breathing normally and walking without pain, then I think it is fine to monitor her at home. If you see any external signs of trauma like bleeding or swelling, or if she is so sleepy you can't get her up then I'd recommend seeing your vet.

Poor Sophie. I would monitor her and if she continue to be sleepy I would have her checked by your vet. Try to offer her a bit of food or her favorite toy and observe her reaction, check if she has balance, if she has appetite, if her attention level is the same compared to other days. Head trauma is always a cause for concern. Since this happened yesterday, there should have been some improvement with your pup if he suffered an injury such as a mild concussion. Sleeping a lot is not so much of a concern since young puppies normally sleep most of the day, but if you also see signs such as unresponsiveness, a head tilt, circling while walking, unequal pupil size, twitching of the eyes, ataxia (wobbly gait) or [vomiting](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/vomiting-1/) then he should be [seen by a veterinarian immediately](https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-handle-a-pet-emergency/). If there is a bump, it may be a seroma (blood filled sac). This can treated by your veterinarian by either draining the area or trying a veterinary anti-inflammatory medication. Do not medicate him with anything OTC without the advice of your veterinarian as [many OTC drugs can be toxic](https://www.petcoach.co/article/7-human-medications-that-are-dangerous-for-your-pet) to dogs.

If Conley seems alert, responsive and non-painful at this point after the incident I doubt there is potential for head trauma. Signs of head trauma or internal injury would include lethargy, disorientation, different sized pupils or labored/irregular breathing. You also may want to make sure she is eating and drinking normally with no pain to make sure she didn't injure her mouth or a tooth during the fall. Puppies are pretty resilient and I would bet there are no lasting injuries.

Poor Maggy! If she is behaving normally, and isn't showing any signs of abnormal behavior such as vomiting, difficulty walking, bleeding from the nose or ears, abnormal posture, or seizures, then she is likely just fine. If you do see any abnormal signs, I would be very concerned and have her seen by a right away. Hopefully, however, she didn't hit her head and she is ok. I hope this helps :-)
