Is my puppy's eye discharge normal after a Parvovirus vaccine shot?

If Milo is still having diarrhea tomorrow morning, have him seen by a vet. The green discharge may be normal. It's called smegma, and it actually comes from the penile sheath. I hope this helps!

This is very concerning as, while her vaccinations were done on time, she is not fully protected against distemper and parvo yet. Purulent discharge from her nose and eyes are concerning as they could , of course be a simple respiratory infection, but also a sign of canine distemper. Please take your puppy to a veterinarian for an exam and some diagnostics.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Kali is very cute. Green or yellow eye discharge isn’t normal. I would recommend you take Kali to a vet for a thorough eye exam. She could have a scratch or an eyelid irritation causing discharge and discomfort. There could also be an allergy causing irritation or an upper respiratory infection. Once a vet sees her they can do tests to rule out a scratch and get her eye medication to help her feel better. Good luck and kisses to Kali!

Hello, sorry to hear about Pax. It could be that he is having normal eye secretions that are becoming stuck on his fur. As long as he is not itching at his eyes, having profuse persistent discharge, squinting, or having a red eye then I would continue to monitor him. You can use a damp cotton ball to wipe the fur around his eye and keep it clean. If the discharge worsens, or if he develops any sneezing or nasal discharge then you should have him evaluated by a veterinarian as this may indicate an upper respiratory infection. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Hello. How is Luna feeling overall? If she is playful & active, eating & drinking well, then she may just have a little vaginitis. Keep the area wiped clean with an antiseptic skin wipe & these are usually self-limiting. As for the eye discharge, it is possible that her corneas may have gotten a little dry during her surgery. You can flush the eyes with some artificial tears from your pharmacy, but if any redness develops in the sclera ( white part of the eye ) or any of the tissues around the eye redden or swell ( conjunctivitis ), please see your veterinarian for further diagnostics. I recommend that you have them evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
