My puppy's eye was bitten and has fluid. Will it heal or need a vet?

Any dog bite needs to be checked by a vet immediately and needs to be treated with antibiotic to prevent any infection from occurring. Post bites infections are extremely common if antibiotics are not take, I would recommend taking Moly to the vet ASAP.

I would recommend a visit to the emergency vet if there is one in your area, if not see your vet first thing in the morning as she is likely going to need oral antibiotics as well as pain medication, and should have the eye examined to be sure there was no damage to the eye itself. Continue to ice the area to help with pain and swelling until she is seen. You can take a bag of frozen peas or corn and wrap in a thin cloth/towel (don't put the ice pack directly on the skin with no barrier in between) for 5-10 minutes every few hours if she will tolerate this. Do not give any over the counter pain medication because these can be poorly tolerated by dogs and may cause more harm than good.

Just gently apply it over the eye for 5 minutes at a time. I know you mentioned there aren't funds for a vet visit right now, but this honestly is what Rufus needs. His eye should be appropriately evaluated by a vet. There could be damage to the eye or a scratch or puncture that needs medication to heal. Rufus should also have some pain medications prescribed. A lot of veterinary practices will take care credit for payment. If that's something you can manage, it may be a good idea. For now, do your best to keep Rufus comfortable and keep the eye clean by gently flushing 2-3 times per day. I have sometimes recommended vetericyn ophthalmic solution for cleaning around the eye as well. You can find that on Amazon. A plastic cone or e-collar would be a good idea too so that Rufus can't scratch or rub at his eye. Best of luck!
