My puppy chews neem branches. Could bark in poop cause a blockage?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | 4 months and 2 days old | 57 lbs

I give my 4 months old pup neem tree branches for chewing. It was suggested by her trainer (who is not a vet) and he said it would satisfy her chewing needs. He also said it would be good for the worms since neem tree has some benefits. But I can see pieces of those barks or sometimes the whole of it in her faeces!!! I am concerned whether those barks can block the passage of her stool and constipate her! Can somebody suggest whether to stop giving her these barks or continue?

It certainly is possible that the tree branches can cause a blockage in Ghontu's intestinal tract. Sharp pieces of the branch can also puncture her GI tract, and could break her teeth. I do not recommend giving her branches to chew on. Instead, I recommend a Kong toy. They are extremely durable, safe for Ghontu to chew on, and you can fill them with treats. You can get Kong toys from a pet store or the internet.
