That is nice of you to share your food with John, poor dog. The pork being stewed with onion will not hurt him, so no need to worry there. Pork is quite fatty, which can cause problems in dogs, but one piece may not cause issues. If you do happen to see him again, try to offer him boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) and white rice if you happen to have some. I hope this helps.

You may have to experiment with various puppy foods to see which one she prefers to eat and that you feel comfortable purchasing. Table food is discouraged for many reasons especially since it can cause stomach/gut problems. You can also try to flavor the dry food with some chicken broth to see if she will eat it. If she is not wanting to eat with or without vomiting/diarrhea, you should take her to your vet and have her evaluated. Not eating is serious especially in small breed puppies. Not eating can be caused by parasites (worms), infection, inflammation, not liking the food, etc. Your vet can evaluate her, run some tests (fecal, blood, etc) and advise what treatment is needed or they can just suggest nutritional things to try. I would not advise adding pork fat to Fierce's food, the high fat content may predispose him to gastrointestinal upset or possibly a painful condition called pancreatitis. If you are interested in adding a healthy protein i would suggest skinless, boiled chicken breast or extra lean ground beef. The problem with raw chicken and raw pork is that they may be contaminated with certain detrimental bacteria. So monitor your dog for diarrhea and vomiting. Should this occur you can try the following: I would fast Alley for 24 hours and then put her on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

Hello, uncooked pork can cause worms even in humans. Cooked pork products are generally safe to use. The pork in processed dog food is cooked and there should be no raw pork unless indicated. A good pice of bacon is ok for Taz every now and then. Just make sure he isn't eating it too frequently as the fat and sodium can lead to other health problems. Hope this helps.

I would not recommend trying to feed a home-cooked diet to a growing large breed puppy like Buddy - this is because nutritional balance is extremely important at this age for proper growth and development. It's extremely difficult to properly balance a home-cooked diet for a growing puppy like this - not as simple as just following a recipe and adding some supplements, I'm afraid. Nutritional imbalances in young puppies can cause severe orthopedic issues later in life such as hip dysplasia, growth plate abnormalities, and other types of joint problems. For this reason, I would strongly recommend feeding a good quality puppy food for large breed puppies - my favorites are Purina Pro Plan and Royal Canin, but there are many options available. Once your dog is fully grown, you can revisit the idea of a home-cooked diet if you wish, since it's much easier to balance this type of diet for an adult dog :)
