Why is my puppy drooling, having loose stool, and trouble urinating?

It sounds like the diarrhea is resolving, so as long as that continues I wouldn't worry about seeing your vet. You can gradually transition back to his usual diet once the stool seems mostly formed. Urinating inside can occasionally be a sign of a urinary tract infection, urinary disease, or a disease that is causing dilute urine. If Louis seems to urinate more frequently or has another accident I'd recommend having your vet examine him and check a urine sample.

Hi there. It sounds like your dog has a gastrointestinal infection which can be caused by bacteria, intolerance to something he ate, parasites or a virus. With the loose stool and continued drooling, I would recommend that you take him to a vet. They can do a physical exam and a fecal test and once they know what’s going on they can get him the treatment he needs to feel better. First, and most importantly, I always ask if a drooling dog has had a rabies vaccine and if they may have come in contact with a wild animal or another dog or cat with unknown vaccine history. If any of the above is the case, even though the chances are low, I would still take precautions and make sure to avoid contact with the saliva or bodily fluids until Oliver sees his veterinarian. If he has had his rabies vaccine, or there is little to no chance that he could have come in contact with another infected animal, then I would be a little less cautious, but still take him in to see his veterinarian. He could be nauseous, which is a very common cause of nausea. This could be because he ate something he shouldn't have and it is bothering his stomach, or he had a recent change in diet, or a new treat introduced. Sometimes rawhide type chews can break off into pieces and get stuck in the stomach causing intermittent nausea. Puppies can also sometimes eat things like pieces of toy, blanket, or even rocks! Another reason a puppy or dog may drool is due to something going on with the teeth - fracture or infection, for example. A piece of foreign material, like a foxtail awn, if they are common in your area, can cause excessively drooling if they become lodged in the oral cavity as well. The above are some reasons for drooling, but there are many more. To be safe, since Oliver is so young, I would make an appointment with his veterinarian to have him checked. They can make sure he doesn't need any tests to be run, like Xrays or blood work, and they can also send home some medications to make him feel better, should it be something like an upset tummy. I would definitely bring in a sample of Moose's poop to be evaluated for intestinal parasites. This is one of the most common causes of diarrhea in young dogs. He may be getting worn out on your walks or just be uncomfortable in his intestines because of the diarrhea. I would also ask your vet to palpate his stomach and spine to rule out any underlying causes of pain and possibly do a rectal exam as well to make sure everything back there is as it should be.

Hi there and thank you for your post! It sounds like Riley may have gotten into something outside. Hypersalivation can be from many possible causes. With his age, I would suspect something irritating (chemical, toad, insect sting) or something stuck in his oral cavity. Have you looked inside his mouth to ensure there isn't a stick or something stuck? If not, I would rinse out his mouth with the hose on low pressure and see if that helps. If there is any swelling, I would give a dose of Benadryl and take him to your veterinarian right away in case this is a severe allergic reaction. The dose of Benadryl would be 100mg if Riley's weight is indeed 100lb. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions / concerns

Drooling can be a sign of nausea and this with a decreased activity level can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Rufus evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam.
