My 4-week-old puppy had diarrhea, now he's not pooping. What to do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 27 days old | 2 lbs

I have a four-week-old bullmastiff German Shepherd mix puppy and he had diarrhea four a day, maybe a little more, and now he hasn't pooped since yesterday. He is orphaned with his sister, but they have the same diet and she's fine.

Hello. Diarrhea can clean out the bowels & it may take a day or so for enough stool to start passing through. As long as Tucker is eating & not straining to defecate in any way, he should have a BM soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
