My puppy has diarrhea, eye discharge, and cold. Should I see a vet?

These signs are very concerning. It sounds as though your dog is suffering from a condition affecting her respiratory system. This may be caused by a bacterial or viral infection, especially if it is affecting the pups as well. She needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Consider keeping her separated from the puppies until she can be seen by a vet. You may want to schedule an appointment for the puppies as well.

Poor Finn! Eye discharge is most often caused by an eye infection or a corneal injury such as a scratch or ulcer. Diarrhea in a puppy this age is often caused by intestinal parasites, an upset stomach due to something he ate, or an infection of some kind. I would recommend taking Finn to the vet as soon as you are able to - he/she can do a fecal exam to check for parasites or other problems, and will also examine his eyes to determine what is causing the discharge. The vet will prescribe appropriate medication to treat these issues depending on what is found.

This is very concerning as, while her vaccinations were done on time, she is not fully protected against distemper and parvo yet. Purulent discharge from her nose and eyes are concerning as they could , of course be a simple respiratory infection, but also a sign of canine distemper. They can present with respiratory (cough, think nasal discharg), GI (vomiting, diarrhea) and neurological signs (unable to walk properly, seizures, etc). They are typically weak, lethargic and refusing to eat and drink. If these signs describe your puppy, then you will need to seek emergency veterinary care for her tonight. The eye discharge could be caused by dehydration, allergies, conjunctivitis, distemper virus, etc. The rapid breathing could be caused by distemper virus, pneumonia, bacterial infection, anemia, among many others. I would recommend that you take the puppies to the vet to get checked out, as many of these problems can be life-threatening in a very young dog. Eating chicken poop doesn't necessarily cause disease, but drinking from a septic system can cause very severe GI illness. If you can't get them to the vet today, then try to get them to drink as much water/gatorade/pedialyte as possible to keep them hydrated. Make sure they are eating puppy food so they do not become hypoglycemic.

Even though he has had vaccines, given his age, he is not completely done with his vaccines and can still get infected with some of these diseases such as parvovirus. I advice that you have Kilo evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least, they can start him on anti-diarrhea medications and something for nausea as his loss of appetite could be from nausea. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to avoid dehydration. Good luck with your pup!
