My puppy has diarrhea. Is electrolyte water safe for illness?

However, this may not be enough to keep him well if he has continued to vomit and have diarrhea. If this has continued, it would be best to have him reevaluated by your veterinarian. Best of luck!

Even though he has had vaccines, given his age, he is not completely done with his vaccines and can still get infected with some of these diseases such as parvovirus. I advice that you have Kilo evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least, they can start him on anti-diarrhea medications and something for nausea as his loss of appetite could be from nausea. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to avoid dehydration. Good luck with your pup!

The poops look good for a dog with parvo. They should continue to get more solid as Oreo continues to recover. If he wants water, you can give him a bowl of water. I don’t recommend to give any flavored Pedialyte as it can cause further stomach upset and some of them may contain a toxic sweetener called xylitol. When pets have diarrhea beyond two days, they need to be examined by the veterinarian as shifts in the bacterial flora tend to occur and will continue the diarrhea regardless of the initial cause. Coccidia symptoms include watery, mucousy diarrhea. explosive diarrhea that may eventually become bloody, lethargy and weakness, dehydration, abdominal discomfort and tenderness, vomiting., weight loss, and little or no appetite. The symptoms for parvo are very similar. In the picture your puppies still look pretty bright so this is a very good sign. Use unflavored Pedialyte or low sodium chicken broth to keep them hydrated. If they will eat, feed them small amounts of their regular puppy food, moistened with broth or Pedialyte to encourage them. If they continue to vomit though you may want to hold off on solid food as vomiting will dehydrate them faster and undo the good work you've been doing.
