Is Powerade safe for my dog if he's vomiting and has diarrhea?

I'm sorry to hear Koda isn't feeling well. The electrolyte water is safe but he also needs quality puppy food, too. If it is coccidia he needs dewormer from the vet. If it's parvo I recommend hospitalization with IV fluids and IV supplements. Good luck and kisses to Koda!

She might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this, maybe she is suffering from a gastrointestinal infection as a result. withhold food for 12 hours then offer Spirit boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting or is not eating after the 12 hours withholding food, take her to the vet to get treatment.

The vet may recommend diagnostics like an internal parasite screen or bloodwork to try to figure out what is going on.

I don’t recommend to give any flavored Pedialyte as it can cause further stomach upset and some of them may contain a toxic sweetener called xylitol. When pets have diarrhea beyond two days, they need to be examined by the veterinarian as shifts in the bacterial flora tend to occur and will continue the diarrhea regardless of the initial cause. You may try offering a small amount (1/8 of a cup) several times daily. Vomiting can be rapidly dehydrating in young small puppies, so it can be hard to correct dehydration alone with oral liquids. I am so sorry to hear that Buddy has diarrhoea and vomiting. This is common when food changes occur. I would start but resting his gastrointestinal tract for a few hours. Then place him on a bland diet which is easily digestiable such as boiled boneless chicken breast and Steamed rice. Though it is most likely the food change which has caused the issues, there are a number of other potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few hours I would continue to monitor Buddy at home . For hydration purposes you can use low sodium chicken broth or save some of the broth you boil the chicken in and offer that to Buddy. Also provide plenty of fresh water. If Buddy does not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice fresh blood, Buddy seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian.
