My 8-week puppy has bloody discharge, not eating. Does she need a vet?

Poor precious. Make sure she is eating about 5-6 small meals a day to help keep her blood sugar up. Since she is having vomiting and diarrhea I would really concerned about her getting dehydrated and weak. She could have something serious going on like parvo virus or a lot of intestinal parasites. I would strongly recommend to get her in to see your vet as soon as possible so they can test her for parvo and worms. They will be able to make sure she has the appropriate medicine to make her feel better and make sure she isn't getting dehydrated.

Hi. With these signs, we get concerned about parasites or parvo virus. It could be serious without treatment if parvo. I'd get the puppy checked out and tested for parvo and parasites. I would try to wean her from nursing or feeding off the moms regurgitation

I would be very suspicious that your puppy may have contracted parvovirus. Please take her in to your local vet right away to get tested for parvovirus and also a fecal exam. If she has parvo she will need medicaitons from your vet, fluids and possible extensive care to get treat her conditon. Parvo is a very deadly virus in puppies even with treatment, but the pet has the best chance of survival the earlier you start treatment. Try offering her small amounts of Pedialyte non-flavored by mouth via syringe or small turkey baster to try and keep her hydrated. Puppies dehydrate very quickly when they are having loose stool. The diarrhea is likely related to whatever caused the vomiting. If she is not starting to improve though, she will need to be seen for a recheck. Being a puppy, I worry about her becoming dehydrated, especially if she continues to vomit. Your veterinarian can prescribe a nausea medication that may help her eat better and will stop the drooling. I hope this information helps.

You should get her to a vet asap her age and history of no shots could attribute the the blood to parvovirus. Hopefully it is a minor gastroenteritis but the chance of parvovirus is very real. Parvovirus needs to be diagnosed quickly and tratment instigated rapidly.

This is usually dietary related and if no other signs are present at this stage, the problem could be managed by start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. If that is the case antibiotics may be needed.
