My 6-month puppy has bleeding gums, eating less, sleeping more. Vet?

Hello, thank you for your question about Kona. I would recommend having Koba seen by your veterinarian so that they can examine her thoroughly. If the bleeding is coming from her mouth she may be in the process of losing some of her baby teeth. However, this does not usually lead to a significant amount of bleeding or discomfort. It is also possible that something else could be going on leading to these signs. Bleeding from the gums can be a sign of an underlying bleeding disorder/problem or some infectious diseases. Depending on the findings of an examination your veterinarian may recommend performing systemic bloodwork and bloodwork to look for infectious diseases (such as tick-borne disease). Puppies are in the process of teething from 12 weeks to 6-7 months of age, so it's completely normal to see an occasional baby tooth with a bloody root on the floor during this time :) Often, there will also be small streaks of blood on toys or chew items - this is because the pup's gums are bleeding a little, and is also normal. This could definitely be due to teething. They often get irritated and bleeding gums at this time and it's really not a problem. This does look a little gingival ulcer and it could be associated with teething. However I would observe this until Monday. If it is from teething it should heal by itself until then. If it increased in size, looks angry, starts to smell bad or is bothering her or did not heal by Monday, have it examined by your veterinarian as there could be some other cause involved that needs treatment.

Jasper will be losing his baby teeth for about another 6 weeks (until he is 6 months old). His adult teeth are currently pushing out his baby teeth, so his gums are more sensitive and easier to bleed right now. Brownie really needs to see a vet immediately. It's serious that there is a lot of blood coming out of her mouth, and this tooth will be extremely painful, which would be why she isn't eating or drinking. I would call around clinics in your area to see if there is a low cost clinic nearby, check prices, call the Philippine SPCA for clinic costs, or see if your vet accepts payment plans. As long as she is not lethargic, this can wait until the wait opens, this might be a blood clotting condition that she is developing, there is a good chance that the dental will need to be canceled.
