My 3-month-old husky puppy ate late. Is she okay and will it affect her schedule?

The automatic feeders are great ! (When working correctly :)). Luna is lucky to have one. She may be a little hungry this evening since she is likely used to eating twice daily. I would offer her 1/8 cup of food at her regular time tonight. If she doesn’t eat it all you can pick it up and restart her Normal schedule of 1/4 cup twice daily tomorrow.

If Guido actually and reliably eats his food about an hour later, then that is ok. There is no need for your dog to eat exactly 12 hours apart. These times are just an approximation. I do not think you need to worry.

Hello, sorry to hear about your puppy. It’s likely that he will be ok, but he may have an upset stomach and too much energy for the rest of the day. You can feed him a decrease amount of food this evenving and as long as he is otherwise doing ok, he may then continue his normal routine tomorrow. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I don't think it's necessarily something to be worried about at this stage. It is not uncommon for huskies and husky-type dogs to be picky/light eaters. She may be low energy because she is unsure of her surroundings. You have only had her one day. Don't force her or push her to be social if she doesn't want to be. If she is vomiting or having diarrhea she should see a veterinarian ASAP. If she is of normal body weight I would not be concerned. Many dogs these days are overfed and too fat. I doubt she will be starve herself. In my entire veterinary career I think I have only told 1 or 2 people that their dogs were too skinny. It is very rare. I suggest you get a scale and weigh her once a week and keep a log. When Amelia goes to the vet next take the log with you and you can discuss it with them. Has she been dewormed? Is she up to date on her vaccinations? She is supposed to have a round of vaccines at 8 weeks of age, 12 weeks of age and 16 weeks of age. They should be dewormed at each of those vaccine appointments too. You really need to make a relationship with a local vet especially if you are a first time dog owner. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

However, it is important to continue her on puppy food for at least another 2-3 months. This will let her grow appropriately as needed. It sounds like you are doing a great job with Luna so far! I would first make sure that she has pooped today. If she has not this can lead to an ‘overfull’ feeling and make her not want to eat. If she has pooped and is still refusing food for more than 24 hours then I would recommend taking her in to be examined by your veterinarian to ensure nothing is wrong. I hope this helps. Great question! Luna should be fed three times a day, morning, afternoon, and evening. Take the daily allotment recommended on her food bag, and divide it into three equal portions. When she is six months old, she can be fed twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
