My dog ate her whole day's food. Should I feed her more tonight?

Great question! Luna should be fed three times a day, morning, afternoon, and evening. Take the daily allotment recommended on her food bag, and divide it into three equal portions. When she is six months old, she can be fed twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She is adorable by the way! What I recommend is actually limiting the amount of time the food is available to her. For example, you can leave her food out for 1 hour, if she does not eat it all, you take it away and offer it again the next day. Eventually, she will understand that her food is only going to be out for a certain amount of time and will have a more regular eating habit. Another thing you can do is split what you feed her in 2 feedings. Both ways could work well for her. Good luck and have a good evening!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Luna. First off, is she at a healthy weight and fairly active? Or do you feel she is sedentary and may be prone to weight gain? If she is lean, you can feed up to 3/4 cup per day. I would sprinkle small amounts of this pre-measured amount into her dish throughout the day to encourage her graze and not finish it all at once. You can also take kibble from this pre-measured amount and hide pieces around the house. This encourages a cat's normal hunting behavior. If you place kibble on high surfaces she will have to jump. This gives her extra exercise. Change up the hiding places to keep her engaged. If she is overweight, then I would only feed 1/2 cup per day. I hope this information helps!

Poor pup. Unfortunately you will either have to crate Balto at night to prevent him from getting to the food bowl or stop using the automatic feeder that refills when empty and switch to one that just lets out at select times of day. Most automatic feeders can be set to twice daily feedings and this will reduce the chance of Balto eating the other pets food greatly. Hello, Luna should be fine to have a later meal. It is more worrisome if she does not eat for prolonged periods of time versus eating a later time. You should however, no over feed her during each meal as this may cause her to feel full/bloated and may be the reason why did not want to eat her later meal. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Great questions! Take a look at the bag of food that you are giving Roxy and determine how much she should be eating given her age and current body weight. Using that volume, divide it into 2 meals for the morning and 6pm "first dinner". Save whatever she doesn't finish in the morning and offer it at her 9pm "second dinner". Try not to leave out too many biscuits during the day, even if she isn't eating them currently. As she gets older, biscuit and table scrap ingestion can be some of the leading causes of obesity. Some dogs prefer not eating much in the morning - this is still normal. :-)
