Puppy ate cooking oil, now has soft stool. Should I be worried?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | 4 months and 7 days old

Hi. Our puppy ingested cooking oil by accident and has been excreting poo that looks a bit formed but actually soft since yesterday. Should we be worried or is it normal? He isn't vomiting or anything. Thank you

At the least he will likely have sift poo for a day or 2 as oil acts like a laxative. However the fat in the oil may cause him to develop pancreatitis which isn't a very nice condition. If he is vomiting or dull I would seek a vet immediately.
