My puppy ate too much coconut oil and is vomiting. Should I worry?

You have all my simpathy as I have a naughty Basset Hound too. Coconut oil is very rich in fat, so I would suggest that you have him checked over as he could be developing pancreatitis . Best sooner rather than later.

For now just monitor her, withhold food for 12 hours, the vomiting should stop first and the diarrhea will take a little longer. if she keeps on vomiting - take her to your vet to get an injection to stop the vomiting.

I think it depends what kind of Almond oil you are referring to: Food grade or Essential oil that may have other ingredients? It also depends on how much she actually ingested. Food grade almond oil contains a lot of fat and essential oil I'd worry about the other chemicals. The fat in food grade can cause stomach upset (vomit, diarrhea, not eating) or pancreatitis. Since she seems fine I would recommend watching her closely for GI upset. I would also consider feeding her a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice for 3-5 days. I hope this helps!

Coconut oil is not toxic to dogs, but in large quantities, it can cause an upset stomach, decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and possibly even pancreatitis. Pancreatitis in diabetic dogs can sometimes require hospitalization. If Lily is not eating her food like normal, discontinue her insulin and call her veterinarian for instructions on how to proceed. If she starts vomiting, then discontinue her insulin and she should be checked out by a vet since she may need anti-nausea medications. Any coconut oil that is not absorbed by the GI tract will come out the backside, so be prepared for greasy, loose stools. If she is having diarrhea, this may need a vet checkup.

At the least he will likely have sift poo for a day or 2 as oil acts like a laxative. However the fat in the oil may cause him to develop pancreatitis which isn't a very nice condition. If he is vomiting or dull I would seek a vet immediately.
