Can a puppy adapt to apartment and house living every other weekend?

Dogs are very adaptable but it’s hard to keep adjusting to a new person and a new house. Dogs like stability. They want to bond with their human. They like a routine and changing households will disrupt all of that and begin the process over again. It is best to place the puppy in a forever home where he will stay but a few changes and bumps along the way are generally OK. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi there. Yes, I think your plan sounds perfect :) This is exactly what I recommend for housetraining puppies, regardless of whether you live in an apartment building or in a house with a yard. By taking your pup out really frequently, you give him lots of practice at using the bathroom in the right place and being rewarded for it. This also keeps his bladder empty, which greatly reduces the risk of accidents in the apartment in between potty breaks. No, it should be fine. I purchased an ex-show dog (a male Basset Hound) who was kept in kennels outside, never indoors, and moved him into my home. He was almost two when I did this, and he very easily adapted to living in a home and I potty trained him successfully. It can take months to housetrain a puppy, so be patient. I hope this helps!

It's likely she will be but your parents should watch her very closely for the first few days. Dogs are situational learners and not all dogs realize that ALL houses should not be pottied in. I hope this helps.

Hello. There is really no way to make this easier for your puppy except to make every effort to spend time with Bandit when she is with the breeder. I think if you can do this & make sure you & the breeder keep Bandit on the same sleep, play, training & meal schedule, then when you can bring her home permanently in June, it should go pretty smoothly. Making sure you supply the same bedding & sleeping crate will help her feel comfortable in both locations. She will only be about 4 months old when she comes home to you & by then she will be very comfortable & able to adapt very quickly. Hello, congratulations on your puppies. Most puppies will adjust quickly to the change and this is most easily achieved by directing your attention towards them more. You can provide plenty of toys and play time to make Appa feel loved and comfortable. Spend as much time with her as possible as the ultimate reward for any dog is attention from their human companions. Appa may feel sad and look for her litter mates for the initial hours to day, but as long as she can receive the care and companionship from you, she will adjust well. As long as he’s been well socialized then I’m not concerned. With crate training, leash walks to potty and praise and consistency he should be fairy easy to housebreak. Dogs that come from puppy mills or shelters where they are in cages all the time and not socialized can become shy and have some behavior problems, sometimes for a long time. Small dogs such as Paddington can be more challenging to train because they are cute and get carried around so be patient and stick to a daily routine.
