Is it safe for my pregnant dog to use stairs throughout her pregnancy?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed

My GSD is 6 weeks pregnant. She is trained to relieve herself at terrace above 3 floors where we live. Though she is pregnant I am worried whether is it ok for her to climb up and down 4 times a day to relive herself. If yes then till what time of pregnancy she can use stairs. As I am trying hard to make her poo/pee at the same floor but, she is not doing her business anywhere else other than terrace.

Yes, it is fine for Laila to use the stairs throughout her pregnancy. In fact, it's good for her to have some moderate exercise to keep her in shape throughout her pregnancy, but not intensive exercise.

Congrats on Pudd'n being pregnant! You can do regular exercise and walks with her, but avoid anything strenuous. Follow her lead, do not push her to do too much. While I typically do recommend avoiding stairs, when it is not possible I have people use a leash on stairs to make sure the dog goes slow and does not cause too much stress on the incision. Double check with your vet to make sure that will be okay.

I recommend avoiding anything which could cause ger stress and would not bathe her if she normally dislikes it. If you do wash her br sure to keep her warm until fully dry but do not overheat her with hot dryers. It is useful to keep the coat very short especially along the belly and back legs for delivery and feeding pups

Should I restrict my active pregnant dog's movement during pregnancy?

I wouldn't push the exercise (no dog parks, running with you for mile, too long chasing balls) but I would let her do light activity as much as she wants. She can run. Personally I do not think you need to cage her or chain her up. She will slow down close to delivery on her own. I hope this helps!

My nervous pregnant dog needs x-rays. Is a vet visit safe?

Congrats on Snowy's pregnancy! I don't think it's likely to cause any harm to the pregnancy. As long as she doesn't sustain any serious trauma along the way! Even the stress of a vet visit with a very nervous mama dog will not harm the puppies in a normal pregnancy. Take her for a walk before hand so she is a little more tired than normal and make sure to bring treats along so she can at least have some positive reinforcement. Best of luck!
