Why does my pregnant dog have blood and sticky substance in her poop?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | 1 year and 4 months old

Is it normal for my dog which is 39 days pregnant (june 14 when she was stud and last for 3 days.) to vowel with some drops of blood in her tools.Actually the tools that she made has no smell and with some colorless and stiky thing.Is she still.pregnant or not?

Pets can have mild blood in their still following episodes of stress. I would recommend adding in a probiotic in her food daily to see if this helps. Culturelle over the counter can be used in pets as it is very similar to the pet formulated probiotics. You should give it daily for the next 7-10 days. If the blood continues past 2-3 days or if you at any point notice a lot of Frank blood or lethargy then it’s best to take Sprinkle to your nearest vet clinic right away.
I am not sure what the colorless sticky thing is in her stool, by it could just be a film caused by colitis (inflamed colon). You can repost your question with a picture of it to verify. I don’t see why she wouldn’t still be pregnant at this time based on your description of events.

It is best not to starve a pregnant bitch so I would try feeding her rice and chicken. If she is dull or has not returned to normal faeces in 24 hours take her to the vet because pregnant animals are more at risk than non pregnant.

My pregnant dog's poop is weird and she's having accidents. Help!

Hello. While the stool is not altogether abnormal, I can see your concerns. The first thing to do is take a sample to your veterinarian for a parasite analysis. You want to make sure Soska is not harboring intestinal worms that can be transmitted to her puppies. In the meantime, switch her to a bland diet for a few days. I use 75% white rice & 25% white chicken breast. A little low fat cottage cheese is OK. I would also start her on a good probiotic like Purina's FortiFlora. This is available over the counter. My pregnant dog is sick: vomiting, bloody stool, weak. What to do?

I am sorry to hear that Flirt is so sick. There are many possibilities of what could be going on, but I am concerned about colitis or even hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. The bloody diarrhea and lethargy is very concerning. Dogs with HGE can become gravely ill very quickly. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. My dog has bloody poop after mating. Will she still get pregnant?

It sounds as Peaches is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

My dog just gave birth, why is she drinking a lot and has bloody poop?

Excessive water consumption, weight loss despite still eating can signal diabetes. If she is nursing puppies, that is the most likely cause for her weight loss. The blood is concerning, it could be anything from parasites, to a viral or bacterial infection, just to name a couple of possibilities. I recommend getting her in to see your vet right away for an exam and labwork. Also, while she is nursing puppies, she should have access to lots of fresh water and as much high calorie puppy food as she wants at all times.

The diarrhea could be related to eating the placentas and afterbirth, or could be a sign of another disease like intestinal parasites. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian for a physical exam and to discuss treatment for the diarrhea. While it's possible simple change like a bland diet and probiotic would be recommended it's always best to have a veterinarian take a look to make sure there's nothing more serious going on.
