My pregnant dog's poop is weird and she's having accidents. Help!

In a pregnant dog it could be due to hormones, impending labor, from worms or diet change (most put pregnant dogs on puppy food). I would contact your vet for medications since she is pregnant, start a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice and add in a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora. If Lucy is not fully vaccinated I would worry about viral infections as well. I wish you and Lucy the best!

Hello, congratulations on your future puppies. It may be indicative of the changes she is undergoing from her pregnancy. It may also be a sign that she could be a little stressed or that she may have gotten into something she was not supposed to (new food, trash, table food, etc.). At this time, you should continue to monitor her at home, if you see any changes in her appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or a painful abdomen, then you should have Misty evaluated immediately. I am sorry to hear about Soska! It could be that she is feeling a little uncoordinated trying to maneuver into her normal spot. If you use fake grass or potty pads, just put down extra so that the potty area is bigger. You can also gently pick her up and set her where you want her to go -then praise her for going in the right place. Best of luck to you and Soska!

This is not necessarily normal but it is also may not be a concern. To be safe I would recommend having her examined by your veterinarian. They can also check her stool for parasites which could be passed on to puppies, and you can discuss a plan for monitoring her pregnancy.

It could be a results of pregnancy however I would recommend checking for parasites and making sure she is dewormed properly. YOu can try and over the counter probiotic to help firm up the stool with a bland diet for boiled chicken and white rice. However if she is not improving I recommend taking her to a vet for an exam

Pets can have mild blood in their still following episodes of stress. I would recommend adding in a probiotic in her food daily to see if this helps. Culturelle over the counter can be used in pets as it is very similar to the pet formulated probiotics. You should give it daily for the next 7-10 days. If the blood continues past 2-3 days or if you at any point notice a lot of Frank blood or lethargy then it’s best to take Sprinkle to your nearest vet clinic right away. I am not sure what the colorless sticky thing is in her stool, by it could just be a film caused by colitis (inflamed colon). You can repost your question with a picture of it to verify. I don’t see why she wouldn’t still be pregnant at this time based on your description of events. Poor Willow! Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.
