Why is my older dog drooling and obsessed with our new puppy?

Drooling can sometimes be a sign of overstimulation/excitement, and even stress or nervousness. It may not be that Bruce wants to hunt the kittens, but he is very excited/nervous being around it. Continuing to monitor them and only have them together under supervision is best, and if he starts to drool it's time for a time out so everyone (including Bruce) can have some time to relax and calm down. Making sure Bruce and kitten both have a place they can lay down, eat, drink, etc away from each other is also a good idea to help limit stress. Pheromone diffusers can also sometimes help (they make them for dogs), however if the behavior continues or he seems to be upset or anxious, it wouldn't hurt to talk to a trainer or behaviorist in person as well.

Congrats on your new puppy, but I'm sorry Borris is having some issues. This excessive drooling could be due to the stress of the new puppy, and it's good that it's starting to get better. Poor daisy! I recommend feeding royal canin calm food and using pheromone products also to help the transition of a new house and new dog and also create a safe indoor kennel with a covered crate, soft bed and pet remedy spray so she has somewhere to go if she needs to. They should make friends over the next few days and once they do the presence of a calmer dog is likely to help

First, and most importantly, I always ask if a drooling dog has had a rabies vaccine and if they may have come in contact with a wild animal or another dog or cat with unknown vaccine history. If any of the above is the case, even though the chances are low, I would still take precautions and make sure to avoid contact with the saliva or bodily fluids until Oliver sees his veterinarian. If he has had his rabies vaccine, or there is little to no chance that he could have come in contact with another infected animal, then I would be a little less cautious, but still take him in to see his veterinarian. He could be nauseous, which is a very common cause of nausea. This could be because he ate something he shouldn't have and it is bothering his stomach, or he had a recent change in diet, or a new treat introduced. Sometimes rawhide type chews can break off into pieces and get stuck in the stomach causing intermittent nausea. Puppies can also sometimes eat things like pieces of toy, blanket, or even rocks! Another reason a puppy or dog may drool is due to something going on with the teeth - fracture or infection, for example. A piece of foreign material, like a foxtail awn, if they are common in your area, can cause excessively drooling if they become lodged in the oral cavity as well. The above are some reasons for drooling, but there are many more. To be safe, since Oliver is so young, I would make an appointment with his veterinarian to have him checked. They can make sure he doesn't need any tests to be run, like Xrays or blood work, and they can also send home some medications to make him feel better, should it be something like an upset tummy. Are his gums red, swollen, or bleeding? If so, try a professional cleaning and then daily brushing. Your vet can check for gingivitis, mouth ulcers, and tumors as well. Organ disease: Liver and kidney diseases, for example, can cause drooling. As they age, dogs are more likely to get sick. Vets suggest annual checkups to diagnose and treat diseases early. Poisonous plants: Common plants like tulips, azaleas, and chrysanthemums can not only make your dog drool, but also make him sick. Keep your dog from eating them.
