My dog drools a lot around our new kitten. Is he being aggressive?

Stress/distress can sometimes cause a cat to drool. If she just came home today, I would give her some time to settle down and relax. If she continues to drool, or shows any other signs of illness such as loss of appetite, vomiting, disorientation, etc, bringing her to a vet ASAP is best.

That could happen especially with kitten when they get excited or they start purring. Unfortunately there is not much you can do as this behaviour is unlikely to be pathological but rather completely normal and Rocky may grow out of it. The older one is excited and interested in the new puppy. This will get better in a few days as they get used to one another and the newness wears off. All you can is try to let them get to know each other in a safe way and try to keep the older one calm when they interact

Drooling is a very common signs of excitement in cats. Why some cats do it and some cats don't isn't clear to us. (Just like some dogs drool when excited for food and some don't.) The area that I think you are concerned about is the lighter colored and thicker area on the bottom lip. That is a normal part of the bottom lip that is thicker than the surrounding area because it is where the upper canine tooth hits the lip. He should have a similar thickened area on the other side, but the coloration may be different. Cats with Orion's coloration can be varying pigment along their lips and gums, so some areas will be pink while others will be dark. That is not a reason for concern. At 7 months of age, Orion should have all his adult teeth. If you are noticing bad breath, it would be worth having your veterinarian examine his mouth to make sure he doesn't have any retained baby teeth that are causing a problem. Finally, it is very common that cats will drool when they purr, but most cats do it from kittens. If Orion has just started drooling when he purrs and has a change to his purr, it would be worth having your vet palpate his throat, lymph nodes and larynx to make sure everything feels normal. Drooling/salivation could be caused by a number of things, including stress, excitement, nausea, dental pain, toxin ingestion, a foreign body stuck in the mouth, injury to the tongue (as can happen with electrical injury from chewing on electrical cords) or bloat. If Vinny could have eaten anything such as medications, household cleaners, plants, toys, food scraps, or garbage, please have him seen by a vet right away, and let your vet know about it to help them determine if there could be toxicity. If no medical cause is noted, it could be stress/excitement induced, and I recommend working with a trainer who uses positive reinforcement techniques to help manage Vinny's stress and help him feel comfortable around other dogs.

The drooling can be a sign of nausea in cats, but given that Rex hasn't had a change in activity, appetite, or anything else, I would keep an eye on him for now. It could be chewing on those plants has upset his stomach, and I would keep them out of reach. Try feeding him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he's still drooling in another 24 hours after being on this diet or anything else changes from the normal, then I would have him seen by a vet.
