Why is my newly adopted dog sleeping so much? Is this normal behavior?

He could have some allergies or possibly have an upper respiratory infection. You can monitor him for a few days and see if the sneezing resolves. If it continues, he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He may need an anti-histamine or antibiotic to treat. As for the sleeping, it may take him some time to adjust to his new home. As long as he seems energetic when you take him out than it is probably nothing to worry about. You could have him examined by a vet if it continues. If he is eating and drinking well, with no vomiting or diarrhea, then it does not sound abnormal. Some dogs are just more energetic than others However, if this behavior is new, then I would consult your vet for testing. If their thyroid is low then it can lead to lethargy and may be contributing.

Hello. While this is a bit unusual for a relatively young, usually high energy beagle, but perhaps Rudy is just a calm dog. Not all dogs play with toys, especially if this was never a part of his life before you adopted him. He can learn to play & this may happen as he becomes more familiar with you. 2 months is still too soon for Rudy to perhaps feel totally secure in his new environment. As long as he seems relatively healthy, is eager to engage for meal times & walks, he just may be a low key dog. Congrats on your new puppy! Yes, puppies can sleep a lot when they are little, and as she was recently spayed, she will be recovering from that as well. If Honey did have parvo, you'd see other signs such as vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and anorexia. If you aren't seeing those signs, then I would not be worried about parvo. I hope this helps!

As long as everything else is well and he is eating and mobile when he gets up it is likely he is just tired from all of excitement and activity. Monitor for any signs of fever or illness which may require a vet check

I'm glad to hear Jill is doing so well. Dog's preferences can change with the weather or just due to their own reasons. As long as she doesn't;t seem anxious or fearful outside, I think it's probably fine. Many dogs, especially older ones, do sleep a lot! It also takes some time for them to get used to their new environment. I would give him more time for him to come along especially since he is otherwise doing so well. If at any point he develops symptoms of illness such as vomiting, diarrhea or inappetence, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
