Can my newborn puppies get sick from my human cold or flu?

There are a few rare cases of dogs catching the flu from their humans, but generally the answer is no. I would recommend having a family member take him to his vet for a check up to see what's going on.

This type of virus usually affects very young or immuno- compromised dogs and cats and in my experience this possibility is not likely at all, especially in healthy patients. A vaccination exists for them as well as for us. What your 6 month old dog has could be contagious and could be very very dangerous to the puppies, keep them separate and make sure you are washing your hands and clothes between petting and interacting with the older dog and the puppies. If the puppies are breathing well and the discharge is clear they are likely ok, but if they start breathing heavy, are weak, not eating, or losing weight (weigh the puppies daily) then I would get them to a vet right away. The flu can have mild GI signs but usually they have fevers, decreased appetite and lots of coughing and snotty noses with congestion. Distemper virus can cause Gi and respiratory sogns and profess to neurological disease. If chronic diarrhea is the main problem they can do dewormer just to make sure and test the pancreas function with a blood test. There is also a theist swab that can test for severe respiratory components to make sure it is nothing serious.
