Just adopted a newborn Maltipoo puppy. How do I care for her?

The puppy at this stage is best being close to the mother. Because you don't have access to her, you'll want to create the environment. You'll need to visit your local Pet store and pick up a puppy feeding kit. This should include a breastmilk substitute/formula, a bottle, and nipples. He'll need to be fed often until he's a little older. Keep him warm with a warm water bottle and be sure to stay close. If he seems weak or unresponsive you'll need to take him to the Veterinarian immediately. The best solution would be to find his mother (if you can) and let him stay with her until 6-8 weeks of age.

I will attach links to find them online or you can find them at Veterinary hospitals or Pet stores. Around 6 weeks start offering puppy food, either canned or moisten dry food. By 8 weeks the puppy should be exclusively eating puppy food. You can bring Mula to the Vet to help confirm age and have him dewormed. Vaccine are started around 7-8 weeks of age. So, you will want tonfeed it puppy replacement milk from pet store via a bottle every 2 hours, stimulate to urinate and defecate after each feeding byntunning the areas w warm wer paper towel or cloth. Set your alarm every 2 houts overnight too. You will want to keep puppy warm at approx 80 degrees in room as well as.plenty of blankets. You will want to keep it just at home until fully vaccinated. You will begin vaccines at 6 to 8 weeks old. It will get a vaccine then and every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 to 18 weeks old. You can start to introduce dry food about 4 to 5 weeks old. Good luck. Congratulations on your new pet! It is not recommended to bathe a pup less than 3 monmths of age. You can use plain, unscented baby wipes or pet wipes to spot clean her as needed. Feed a good quality puppy food. Stay away from store or discount brands as these typically contain low quality ingredients and more fillers. The breeder may give you a bag of food to go home with. If Blush eats it, does well on it and it is easy for you to get then stick with it. If you need to change diets, do it gradually, over the course of 7-10 days, to prevent gastrointestinal upset. Try to avoid switching diets frequently to avoid creating a picky eater. She should not need vitamin supplementation if she is eating a quality puppy food. Dogs have similar tolerances for temperature that we do. If it is too cold fo ryou inside, it is too cold for her. Air conditioning should be tolerable for her. You can start crate training her or wee wee pad trainign her as soon as you get home. If you use a crate, it should be just big enough for her to stand, turn around and lay down. Start a schedule for bathroom breaks. She should go out first thing in the morning, after naps, about 20-30 minutes after eating or playing and just before bedtime. She will likely need to go out one or two times during the night as well. Choose one spot in your yard and allow her to use it. She can go outside in your yard. She should not be exposed to dogs of unknown vaccine statuse until about 2 weeks after she receives her last vaccine.

Your vet will likely recommend vaccines and deworming, along with flea and tick prevention. You can also ask your vet what the best food to feed Moonlight is, as this will vary from location to location. You should also get Moonlight neutered at 4 months of age. Congrats on Winnie's new puppy! You need to make sure that the puppy is nursing and is kept warm at all times, and Winnie has plenty of food and water. Winnie should get a puppy formulated food now because she requires higher amounts of protein, calorie, and calcium to support nursing a puppy. Hello. Puppies do best when they are adopted at 8-9 weeks of age. Take Candy ( yes, a very cute name ) to your vet within 3 days of arrival for a good health check-up & to be checked for intestinal parasites. Usually we start vaccinations at this age, with boosters at 12 & 16 weeks. Shi Tzus are very popular breeds, generally very healthy, but they do need regular grooming & brushing to prevent their coats from tangling. You should feed her the best quality puppy food you can afford for the first year of her life, spay her at 6 months if you do not plan to breed her & make sure she gets plenty of exercise.
