Just adopted a 2-3 week old puppy. How do I care for it?

Hi and thanks for posting! It is hard to say how old your puppy is without seeing him first. Puppies start to open their eyes 10-14 days after birth, so if his eyes are open then he is at least 2 weeks old but may be older. Determining the age of a puppy is typically done by looking at their teeth which can be done during an initial exam with a veterinarian. Jr will need to be on a puppy milk replacement formula until he is 6-8 weeks old then you can transition him to a commercial puppy food. Puppies typically nurse every 2-4 hours until 3-4 weeks old then it can be every 4-6 hours. If he has a good suckle reflex that is a good sign and he is probably hungry. You will use puppy milk replacement until he is weaned which generally starts around 4-5 weeks of age the. Transition to soft puppy food and decrease milk feedings. They do have to stay warm. Their normal body temperature is 100 so that can be a sign if shaking. You have to gently wipe their behind and probates to stimulate them to go to the bathroom. This should be done after every meal. They generally sleep a lot and as they get older and more coordinated then they stay awake longer

Tobis is way too young to be away from his mother. You will need to source some puppy milk to feed him every four hours. you should be able to get puppy milk from a veterinary doctor in your area. If he does not have any, you can buy it over the internet. Just search for "puppy formula". So, you will want tonfeed it puppy replacement milk from pet store via a bottle every 2 hours, stimulate to urinate and defecate after each feeding byntunning the areas w warm wer paper towel or cloth. Set your alarm every 2 houts overnight too. You will want to keep puppy warm at approx 80 degrees in room as well as.plenty of blankets. You will want to keep it just at home until fully vaccinated. You will begin vaccines at 6 to 8 weeks old. It will get a vaccine then and every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 to 18 weeks old. You can start to introduce dry food about 4 to 5 weeks old. Good luck. Oh no, those poor puppies! How lovely of you to look after the puppies. You will have to bottle feed them, and first thing you need to get is puppy formula replacer.
