How to make natural homemade electrolyte drinks for my dog?

You can give him some pedialyte to help boost his electrolytes occasionally, but as far as exercise, if he wants to go running and isn't sore, he will be able to drink enough to hydrate without loss of electrolytes. Since dogs eat balanced diets, they typically don't need electrolyte supplements, but pedialyte won't hurt after exercise. I hope that helps! You can give diluted pedialyte or I would recommend giving a veterinary product such as NaturVet Pet Electrolytes Concentrate Dog & Cat Liquid Supplement, 16-oz bottle. This can be found at your local Petco or online. I would hold off on giving any electrolytes though as what you are describing does not sound like dehydration is the problem. I would keep decreasing the amount of beef broth you put into her food until she is eating the dog food alone. She really should not be having it, so it's best to try to wean her off of it. I am not familiar with an oral electrolyte replacement. Usually dogs who are eating and drinking well don't have electrolyte abnormalities, so I would make sure he has a diagnosed electrolyte abnormality before trying to supplement. If your vet has recommended fluids under the skin, that would indicate that Bubbles is actually dehydrated as well. Dehydration and heart disease are a hard pair of issues to balance because the treatment for the heart disease involves causing some dehydration with lasix. Since it sounds like something a bit complicated is going on with Bubbles, I'd recommend sharing your treatment concerns with his primary care veterinarian or cardiologist so they can help you make a safe and effective plan. I'm sorry to hear Koda isn't feeling well. The electrolyte water is safe but he also needs quality puppy food, too. If it is coccidia he needs dewormer from the vet. If it's parvo I recommend hospitalization with IV fluids and IV supplements. Good luck and kisses to Koda!

Hello. I would not be too concerned. Just continue to add water, or low sodium broth to his food. You can also offer him broth or stock ( either beef or chicken ) as a source of liquids. You can always try Gatorade, pedialyte or chicken broth to help give flavor and extra calories with electrolytes. If Chopper is not a fan of these options you can talk to your vet about how to give fluids under the skin (SQ) at home to help.
