My dog was a mother. Is it safe to introduce her to a new puppy?

I would introduce them to one to see his interest. Some other dogs are very good at mothering such as licking and cleaning and keeping warm, others are not and try to harm them. Hold one and see if he licks it and seems happy. If he growls or gets aggressive then keep them separate. But if it goes well then you can let him meet them all, he may do some of the work for you to help care for them

If your 8 year old dog is current on vaccines, then yes, you can introduce them. Just keep the puppy away from any dogs with an unknown or incomplete vaccination history until he has been fully vaccinated at 16 weeks of age.

There is no way to know in advance how two dogs will get along. Our best guess is based on previous behavior in similar situations, so if Tigger has had issues with mounting and becoming aggressive in the past, it's very possible it will occur with your mom's dog. I would recommend that if you're bringing him, introduce the dogs in a neutral space (not your mom's house, because it is your mom's dog's space) and have a backup plan to keep the dogs separated or board your dog in the area if the introduction does not go well. Your younger dog will learn their boundaries and what behaviors are acceptable and not. Before bringing your young puppy out to play in public with any other dogs, be sure that he/she is fully vaccinated (finished with his/her puppy vaccine series). Congratulations on your new puppy! It’s best to have both pets exercised before they meet. Being a little tired will help to smooth out hyper excitibility. Also have them meet in a neutral area and have them both on a leash. Then just make sure that the older dog can have a break from the puppy if the puppy is annoying him at home. It would be a very simailar introduction process yes. I have two young children and two dogs as well and the best advice I have is slow and steady. As much as you trust and live your dogs also, do not leave them in the room unattended with the baby. The most difficult time will actually be once your baby is mobile. Please post another question then and I will guide you through the issues of that time. Make sure your dogs don't feel pushed out when baby arrives. Offer them chews and toys in the same room as you while you feed the new baby. Take them for walks while you push the stroller. Make them feel secure and included as mcuha s you can.
