Does my mixed-breed dog look like a pitbull? What are the signs?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 22 days old | 50 lbs

How much pit do you think he has in him, his daddy is an American pitbull terrier and his moms mom I got from the pound and they said she was a mut and bengermans mom had some pitbull terrier in her but I wanna know if he looks any like a pit

Yes I think he looks like a pit, at least 60-70% of him has the external features of a American pitbull.

    Begamen is a very handsome boy! He could have some pitbull terrier in him, but I wouldn't look at him and definitely think he's a pitbull. He looks like a mixture of dogs to me. If you would like to know for sure his mixture and how much, if any, pitbull terrier he has in his genetic make up, you can do a DNA test called a Wisdom Panel to find out his DNA :-)

What breeds are in my mixed-breed dog? How can I know for sure?
First you should know that breed identification by looks alone has been proven to be inaccurate 75% of the time. If I had to guess, I suspect a pit bull type breed and German Shepherd. However Boxer and maybe hound could also be present. If you want to know for sure, look at one of the breed tests such as Wisdom Panel. Beautiful dog!

Ginger certainly looks most like a Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix to me. There are DNA tests available to try to more accurately identify a dog’s breed, but these results are not 100% accurate. Regardless, Ginger is adorable!

Your puppy is very cute! It is important to remember that visual identification is inaccurate 75% of the time. However if I had to guess, I think there is some pitbull terrier in your pup. It is likely that your pup is a mix of several different breeds. It is also possible that boxer or Boston terrier is present in the heritage. I recommend to speak with your veterinarian if genetic testing is available in your area. That is the most accurate way to know the heritage.

Hi and thanks for posting! It is hard to say if Spot is part Pitbull from the pictures alone. He certainly may be, but it would be good to know for sure by running a genetic test such as the Wisdom Panel. This can be purchased online and requires a saliva sample from your pet.
