Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The lidocaine rub could provide pain relief for your dog, but not taking her to the vet and using this medication without a veterinary consultation or diagnosis is your judgement call. If used inappropriately, Lidocaine can have some serious side effects in regards to toxicity. I would refrain from using this medication until otherwise directed by your veterinarian. If she has severe dental disease, the best fix for this is to have a dental cleaning done and address any infected teeth at that time. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
