How can I identify my rescued dog's breed? Is he a Morkie or a mix?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 months and 22 days old | 14 lbs

I rescued Mason exactly a month ago from this person who who used to abused him he was in horrible conditions when i got him out of that hell, i was never told what breed he really is i believe he is a Morkie but im not too sure he is about 13lb now and he is not big or super tiny at all. I just want to know what breed he is?

Mason is such a cutie! I think a Morkie is a very reasonable guess based on his appearance. It's also possible that he may have some Miniature Schnauzer in him, especially with his face and beard. He is definitely a handsome guy either way!

If you want to know for sure what breed (or breed mix) he is, you can have a DNA test done to determine this. Wisdom Panel is a reputable company that can do this with either a cheek swab, or a blood sample taken by your vet - www.wisdompanel.com
