How to identify my dog's breed? Are DNA tests accurate for pets?

If you want to know more of an accurate determination, there are DNA tests that you can do such as the Wisdom Panel which are not expensive that will tell you what breed of dogs Snowball consists of.

He isn't a pure bred dog and there are likely many breeds that contributed to how Jack looks. He likely has Chow (though his tongue isn't pigmented) or Samoyed to get that type of tail. The rest is likely a retriever or shepherd mix. For fun you can do DNA test, they aren't very accurate but it might be entertaining at least. They are a little expensive but they are pretty accurate if you are curious to know. I don't find them very accurate though. If you want to send more pictures or post a gain when he/s bigger it may help. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Cooper is adorable! He is a mix breed so it is just a guess. He looks like he could be a shepherd or australian shepherd mix. I see Rat terrier in his face in the middle picture. We may never know. As I guess I would bet some chihuahua, some sheltie and maybe Dachshund. Theres likely a few things in your new pup! Just so you know, there are now genetic bred tests that give can you a definite answer. Thank you for using Pet Coach!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! They are mixed breed dogs with German shorthaired pointer, Beagle and possibly some Pitbull in my opinion. You could consider having them DNA tested to know more precisely. Best of luck!
