How can I identify dog worm eggs in my dog's feces with a microscope?

I cannot see a worm in your dog's poop, but if you suspect that Tibet may have worms you can either take a stool sample to your vet and have it checked for worm eggs or you can get some dog wormer and worm him according to his weight, I am not familiar with Macedonian law, it may only be possible to get a wormer from your veterinarian.

Hello, It looks like a strongyle egg. It could be non-pathogenic if you're only seeing one egg. However, some plant material can also trick you and look like parasite eggs. The reason I say that is because that picture doesn't show an obvious operculum like strongyle eggs and the gravel is smaller than canine strongyle eggs. Hope this helps.

There is no way to send pictures to you, but look up each parasite, & you will see good pictures of the most common worms present in dog stool. Severe worm infestations will cause weight loss and GI signs. Minor infestations will be asymptomatic. I would recommend to collect a sample of stool and take it in for testing. If you can get a sample that you think has worms in it, then that would be best. Call the Wellness clinic to make sure they can test dogs for GI parasites. The cost of the dewormer will vary based upon what type of worms are present and also where you live. In general the fecal exam is around $40 and the dewormer could range anywhere from $20-60 but once again, these are estimates. Things in New York City cost more than things in Louisville, Ky. The intestinal worms that can be missed are some that are either difficult to find normally or the ones that are intermittently eliminated by the affected animal like Giardia and Coccidia, among others. A fecal exam usually checks for parasite eggs, single celled parasites, the presence or absence of yeast, and the mixture and types of bacterial. If your dog has any vomiting, weight loss, diarrhea or soft stool at all, then yes, I would definitely do this screening. If he has no signs whatsoever, I would still consider doing it every other year or so to catch things early. Best wishes to you and Oscar!

Hello and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Parasite eggs are microscopic so I'm wondering if what you're seeing in the stool is actually eggs. It could be adult roundworms or even tapeworm eggs. It is not uncommon to see the adult roundworms as they are killed by the deworming process. If it is tapeworm eggs, you may need to end up treating for fleas (as this is how tapeworms are spread). The Dolpac should help treat for tapeworms and the praziquantel should be effective for giardia and roundworms. It is possible that you may end up needed to retreat but I suspect what you are seeing may be normal for the deworming process. Definitely take a fecal sample back to your veterinarian in about 3 weeks to ensure the infection is cleared. Also the prevent reinfection make sure to clean up your dogs feces from the yard. If at any time Echo seems to be acting ill or has diarrhea I would take her back to your veterinarian.
