Just adopted a dog, how can I identify her breed and background?

What a cutie. My guess would be pit bull mix, with a combo of at least 3-4 breeds. If you'd like to know his background there are genetic tests you can do for fun. Embark and Wisdom Panel are both companies that offer this service. Enjoy your new addition!

Awww, very cute! She looks like a cross between a Rottweiler and a Labrador Retriever. If you are really curious as to an exact answer, there are dog DNA tests available that make are supposed to be able to reveal exact genetic make up of a canine. Hope this helps!

What a cutie!!!! This is strictly as guess as visual identification has been proven to be 75% inaccurate but if I had to guess, he looks like there is hound and possibly Cattle Dog. Its highly unlikely however that he is a 50/50 mix. I bet there are several breeds present within his ancestry! There are many canine genetic companies out there and some are better than others. You will need to check however that they have a canine genetic database from the country where he is coming from as genetic signatures do vary based upon location or origin. Hello. Kiwi is adorable! Based on her size, I would say there is very little, to no St. Bernard there. I can definitely see the Border Collie with perhaps some Heeler or maybe even some Spitz or American Eskimo. You might want to consider one of the DNA test kits that are readily available now. It is so much fun to see what actually makes up our pets. You can buy these online, or I believe that Petco carries them, too. Take care.

She looks big! From her head shape, I would think there is some Great Dane in her. I can't tell you for sure if she may be full Great Dane or a mix, but her paws, head shape, short coat, and coloring and very similar to a Great Dane.

She is so cute!! She has the marking of a Rottweiler but not the stature or size. She kind of looks like a hound dog-like a Black and Tan- but the ears aren't long enough. She's a mix of some kind. Usually those are the best ones! Good luck and congrats!
