How to confirm my adopted dog's breed? Border Collie, Aussie, or mix?

What a cutie! She appears to have some Papillon in her due to her ear, but her coloring is reminiscent of some larger breeds such as a Rottweiler or a herding dog like an Australian Shepard. It is hard to say for sure. There are some genetic tests you can order for more certainly. I would defiantly say there is some Papillon, and 100% cute!

Awww, very cute! She looks like a cross between a Rottweiler and a Labrador Retriever. If you are really curious as to an exact answer, there are dog DNA tests available that make are supposed to be able to reveal exact genetic make up of a canine. Hope this helps!

What a cutie!!!! This is strictly as guess as visual identification has been proven to be 75% inaccurate but if I had to guess, he looks like there is hound and possibly Cattle Dog. Its highly unlikely however that he is a 50/50 mix. I bet there are several breeds present within his ancestry! There are many canine genetic companies out there and some are better than others. You will need to check however that they have a canine genetic database from the country where he is coming from as genetic signatures do vary based upon location or origin. What a cutie! She is not a single breed I recognize so I would suspect she is a mixture of two or more breeds. Based on her appearance I would suspect spaniel of some kind (possibly cavalier king charles spaniel) possibly with a small australian sheperd or border collie. Your notes however say she is only 4 pounds and if that is truly the case then I would suspect a long haired chihuahua mix. There are genetic tests available to help identify the breeds if you are truly wanting to know. It is difficult to say since she is young but a mix including a herding breed would be a guess. You can purchase a canine DNA kit online or in some pet stores. Most are easy and require a simple cheek swab to determine breed(s). More comprehensive (and expensive) DNA tests can be submitted by your veterinarian after a blood sample is drawn.
